Shameless plug for this years courses, they are filling up fast so book soon if you see a course you fancy.

My spoon and bowl carving courses are great fun and a really inspiring start in green woodworking. Whether you are an absolute beginner just thinking of trying your hand at woodcarving or someone with more experience that wants to take things to another level I hope to have courses to suit. 2011 dates have just gone on the website here.

My foundation course concentrates on really mastering the basics of using a knife and axe safely, efficiently and accurately. These are useful skills that are transferable to all sorts of green woodworking projects. We also cover the basics of sharpening, different properties of suitable carving woods and make various projects from spatulas to simple spoons.

Here are some blog posts from past foundation courses. ... ourse.html

And these are developers courses ... e-yet.html

And last year the bowl carving courses were very popular. ... ourse.html

I am trying to organise a sharpening masterclass which several folks have asked for, dates for this hopefully to follow. Another course new for this year due to popular demand is the "fun carving". Actually all the courses are "fun carving" but this one will be less structured. It is intended for folks that have been on previous courses or are competent carvers. The idea is that many folk just enjoy having the opportunity to set three days aside to come and carve in good company with the best tools and materials provided. Folk can come and work on individual projects and I shall be on hand to offer help and advice.

Last year the courses all booked up remarkably quickly so if there is a date that works well for you or a particular course you want to do send me an email and I'll hold you a place. £50 deposit confirms the booking.

If the dates don't work or there is something you would like to learn that is not listed then send me an email and if there is sufficient demand I may be able to organise something. bowls, books and courses
