Oiling bowls

Postby dan » Mon Dec 30, 2013 11:54 pm

Over the last few days I've turned a half dozen bowls how soon can I oil them, obviously they are still quite green as the timber was freshly felled, will oiling them whilst still very green slow the moisture loss, and make them less likely to crack ?

Dont oil them let them dry slowly, i just leave mine in a pile of shavings on the shelf int workshop until dry, maybe 2/3 months. or you could try the plastic bag method. stick in a loosely closed bag and turn inside out every few days
