That's a surprise, I felt sure you would get in. I expect the others used one of those webbot thingies to bump up their votes (I figure that's how facebook got so many "users" :D). Have you seen the picture of Gavin's plastic pipe lathe?

As ToneWood has raised this matter and at the risk of going off-thread, I append a picture of it at a show in 2006.

I reckon if you are going to be out there, you may as well go right out...Image

It did work (albeit not well) and we still use a plate I turned on it. The show promoter asked us to come the back next year but pointedly asked us to do without the cave-man outfit. :roll: She expressed no view on the poly-lathe.

For those unaware of my daft invention, it exists no longer. I really thought it would save me having to learn chainsawing skills and buying chainsaw when making a bowl lathe. Bollocks - a chainsaw saves heaps of time.

It did teach me to understand better the forces at work in a bowl lathe - you could see the polythene move; yellow against blue. :shock:

Thank you all and as Bob pointed out I do at least have a nice hat. As for Gavin and his cave man costume......I just don't have the chest rug :D
